What is AFNS?|AFNS Complete Guidance 2024 | 2nd LEFTINANT Officer
AFNS stands for “Armed Forces Nursing Service.”
It refers to the branch or division within the armed forces of various countries that specifically deals with nursing and healthcare services for military personnel, veterans, and sometimes their families. AFNS nurses are trained healthcare professionals who provide medical care, support, and assistance within the military healthcare system .AFNS officer are direct on the Rank of *2nd LEFTINANT officer*.
The role of AFNS nurses that they perform includes!
1. *Medical Care*: Providing direct patient care in military hospitals, clinics, field hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. They are head in their department and perform their duties.
2. *Emergence Response*: Responding to medical emergencies and providing critical care in combat zones or disaster areas.
3. *Health Promotion*: Educating military personnel on preventive health measures and promoting wellness within the military community.
4. *Deployment Support*: Ensuring the health and readiness of military units through pre-deployment medical screenings and ongoing health assessments during deployments.
5. *Specialized Areas*: Some AFNS nurses may specialize in areas such as trauma care, critical care, mental health, or public health nursing depending on the needs of the military.
AFNS nurses are commissioned officers within their respective armed forces and may be subject to military regulations and protocols in addition to their nursing duties. They play a crucial role in maintaining the health and operational readiness of military forces and supporting the overall mission of national defense.
Eligibility Criteria:
Girls after FSC pre medical are eligible only for AFNS in Pakistan Army. AFNS (ARMED FORCES NURSING SERVICE (AFNS)(BSC Nursing)2ND LEFTINANT OFFICER.
💠Qualification: FSC pre med with 50% and Matric 60%
💠Age=17-25 years
💠Height: 5 feet
💠Weight=According to BMI(Body Mass Index)
💠Commission=Permanent
💠Note: Those girls who are in 2nd year class and FSC part 1st with 50% marks they are also eligible and they can apply on Hope certificate.
💠Marital Status: unmarried / widow / separated /divorcee without encumbrances.
💠Degree Awarded=BSC Nursing
💠 Ineligibility Conditions:
Twice rejected by the GHQ Selection Board.
Declared Medically Unfit by Appeal Medical Board.
Individual withdrawn/resigned/discharged from Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) training academies/institution on the ground of
discipline, characters, medical inefficiency,
weak profile or declared unsuitable.
Individual dismissed/removed from any other government service.
For BSc Nursing only – candidates already registered with Pakistan
Nursing Council.
Convicted by a Court of Law for an offence involving moral turpitude.
Test centers & Rank in AFNS
💠 Training Period: 4 x years Training at AFPGMI Rawalpindi, CMH LAHORE,CMH KHARIAN , CMH MULTAN, CMH QUETTA and PNS SHIFA KARACHI.
💠 Note: On completion of successful training, shall be granted Commission in the rank of Lieutenant.
💠 Bond: Finally selected candidates will be required to sign a bond to serve the Army for minimum period of ten years for BSc Nursing before the commencement of training.
💠 Documents Required at AS&RCs:
Candidates will deposit following
documents with AS&RCs:-
Original certificates/documents/detailed marks sheets along with two attested photocopies of each educational certificate/degree.
Candidates serving in Government’s institutions/departments will render
No Objection Certificate (NOC) of the
concerned establishment.
Attested photocopy of domicile.
Photocopies of computerized National Identity Card.
3 x Colored photos duly attested (front & back)
Crossed postal order of RS. 100/- in of Director General Personnel Administration (DGPA), GHQ Rawalpindi.
